The space race didn’t start in the 1950’s, it started in the 1300s. Come join us as we look at the race for space. This class will be broken up into 4 parts: 1) 1962 and before – the development of flight and the early era of manned flight; 2) 1962 to 1973 – The race to the moon and a hand shape in space: 3) After 1973 – Space stations and the future of space flight: and 4) Scientific discovery, probes to other worlds.
Instructor: Jim Stepp - Jim has been teaching astronomy classes for SAGE since 2010. He has also done astronomy education classes for the scouts and other groups for over 40 years and has enjoyed astronomy for 50 years. Jim is currently a member of the Board of Directors at the Francis Malcolm Science Center and acts as one of their planetarium show projectionist.
